Personal Statement
I am a compassionate and kind clinician look forward to designing a unique and individualized treatment plan for you. My specialties are combat trauma and any major psychiatric diagnosis. I have seventeen years of clinical experience as a psychotherapist. I received my Masters of Social Work from Boston University while working
30 hours a week as a Intake Clinician at Boston Family Services. My caseload at Family Services included college students, psychiatric patients, and families in crises. The diversity of clients and experiences would be the cornerstone of my career and special skill set.
The next thirteen years was spent as a social worker for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Massachusetts. I was hired immediately upon my completion of my Graduate VA field placement experience. The opportunities at the VA included but was not limited to:1)- outpatient and inpatient clinical case work with chronically ill veterans and their families, 2)-individual, family and group treatment with combat veterans with PTSD, 3)- clinical case management and discharge planning on Medicine, Rehab and Surgical units,4)- ongoing therapy with female victims of sexual trauma. I am an advocate of cognitive behavioral treatment for anxiety and depression.
As a result of the richness of my career experiences, my scope and depth of compassion, and understanding of human suffering; I am a better person and a more seasoned clinician. My patient and gentle demeanor creates an authentic connection in therapy. I have a strong belief in the capacity for change and growth as witnessed even in the most chronic psychiatric populations. It is the nature of all humans to desire change and adapt to new life challenges. I look forward to the opportunity to guide you on your own unique journey.
