Personal Statement

We all encounter difficult moments in life, yet sometimes those moments become painful and overwhelming to manage. Sometimes we feel "stuck" or "disconnected" in our relationships/life without knowing how to change it. As a therapist, my role is to help you navigate through the difficulties and relationships that arise. I work with a wide range of concerns, such as feelings of depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, infidelity, sexuality concerns, and life transitions.

My approach to helping individuals, couples, and families is grounded in cultivating a safe and supportive atmosphere for healing to occur. I utilize a holistic (body mind spirit) approach that considers how various thoughts, feelings, needs, and behaviors influence self and others, and my background as a yoga teacher/educator for the past 15 years helps to inform my practice. I work in collaboration with each client to assist them in creating the life they want.

I have a special interest in helping couples feel more connected and engaged in their relationship. I have completed an Externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which is a research-based and highly effective model of couple therapy. I also have an interest in working with LGBT individuals, couples, and families on a variety of issues and difficulties, including coming out, transitioning, relationships, HIV/AIDS, among others.
