Personal Statement
The emotional distress you feel is a culmination of experiences, perspectives, and relationships. In psychology, the study of these emotions in relation to your unique life is psychoanalysis. Through this analysis of your life, you may begin to unravel behaviors and thoughts that hold you back. You may begin to gain great insight into your emotional life and find the courage and confidence to be who you really are.
I am a psychodynamic/psychoanalytic therapist with over 20 years’ experience. I offer a safe, professional, and encouraging space to explore your emotional self. From a psychoanalytic perspective, I provide individual, couples’, and discernment therapy. My expertise includes ongoing depression and anxiety, grief and loss, shame and insecurity, difficulty verbalizing needs and emotions, childhood trauma, relationship conflicts, work and career support, parenting support, and GLBT for individuals and couples.
The emotional learning you can achieve through psychoanalysis and psychodynamic therapy can continue to unfold and inspire you beyond the therapeutic process.
As your therapist, my job is to create a safe environment in which you can investigate the unconscious motivations that influence how you perceive yourself and others, and how you interact with the world around you.
Messages that you have internalized about what you "should" do and how you "ought" to be will fade before the dawning awareness of who you truly are and who you are meant to be.
Life is no longer a series of seemingly endless problems to be solved, but instead, a wondrous journey to be passionately embraced.
