Personal Statement

Hi, My name is Jeannette York and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, licensed in the state of California. I specialize in working with couples, families and adult children who have become estranged from their parents or adults who may have a tense relationship with their parents. There is always hope. Therapy can help the two of you discover once again the qualities that brought you together. Even if it feels that you have grown far apart and that you no longer share common interests, the two of you can once again remember the love that you share and to discover new interests.

If there has been infidelity, this does not mean that the relationship is over. Often infidelity is a sign that the relationship has been in trouble for a long time. I have seen many couples experience a breach in the relationship and, after a period of healing, the couple has created an even stronger, more loving bond. Whether a couple has been together for 6 months or 30 years, marriage therapy can help each to develop a deeper understanding of the other.

Some of the experiences that life throws at us, like the death of a loved one, can turn our world upside down. When this happens, people are often unable to cope with the grief and this disrupts their sense of being and their ability to handle everyday life. Life can become difficult because the person is unable to come to terms with the fact the person has passed.
