Personal Statement

I am a licensed child psychologist who completed my doctorate of Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Education from Sacred Heart University in CT. I hold a teaching certification in grades K-6 and have 8 years of teaching experience.

My current focus is on working with children and adolescents who suffer from trauma, depression, anxiety, and behavioral issues; facilitating positive parenting; and providing school consultation and evaluation. I trained under psychologists who were experts in TF-CBT, and I also hold certification in EMDR. She believes that her unconditional support and working together with her clients has created a no-judgment zone where everyone can feel comfortable and safe.

Although being a teacher was very gratifying, I decided that teaching was not the most effective way to advocate for the children with whom I interacted. I wanted to do more. It had been my dream for a long time to become a therapist and work with families. My interest in trauma came about as a result of working with disadvantaged youth and their families who had multiple traumas in their lives.

In my down time, I am an avid reader of fiction and love to play with my two Boston Terriers, Annie and Baxter. I believe it’s important to give back to the community, so I offer free adolescent support groups that are sponsored by the National Alliance on Mental Health.
