Personal Statement

My clients tell me they feel lighter and better beginning with the very first session. I balance warmth and empathy with a great deal of education, experience, and expertise. I focus on solutions and strengths, and help people to enrich their lives and relationships. Well-being, health, and happiness are enhanced as I blend a number of therapeutic modalities that work with the conscious and unconscious mind, including mindfulness, meaningfulness, and trance work. I develop a unique blend of approaches for each individual, I also bring a wealth of psychoeducation and knowledge to share and apply about state-of-the-art research in areas such as love, relationships, parenting, communication, happiness, and well-being.

Couples: Whether early in your relationship or deep into a long-term commitment, couples counseling is powerfully effective. In my experience as a psychotherapist, change happens rapidly and profoundly. This comes from my expertise in cutting-edge research about what works in couples counseling, my intuitive-empathic abilities to understand each unique journey, and my strength and skill to apply these with balance, care, and even fun.

Individuals: Uncover sources of depression, anxiety, anger, addiction, and other challenges. Make real and positive changes to live your life joyfully and meaningfully.

Families: Parenting, teens, children -- my toolbox is full of wonderful ways to make things better fast.

Employing a narrative lens, my work views the construction of meaning as a primary human activity and area for meaningful understanding and change. My modality of therapy integrates narrative, humanistic, strategic, structural, Ericksonian, solution-focused, and other modalities of therapy, and it emphasizes client strengths, resilience, and hope. I see my work as increasing awareness of options so that better choices are available, people can become unstuck, and better ways of interacting can be developed. I’m highly empathetic and respectful.
