Personal Statement

With over ten years experience as a mental health professional, I provide therapy for individuals, couples, and families seeking conflict resolution and guidance with mood, impulse control, and thinking disorders. Most of my experience is with children and their families; however more recently, I have assisted individuals of all ages, especially couples affected by mental illness.

Specific issues I address are divorce, sexual abuse, difficulties with parenting, anxiety, depression, and other behavioral issues, such as ADHD, oppositional defiance, bipolar disorder, and dual diagnoses. I also work with young people regarding peer relationships and cultivating coping skills for the difficulties they face.

Mental illnesses and mood disorders can impede personal growth and negatively impact familial relationships, so I seek to guide my clients toward resolution through narrative therapy, life coaching, solutions focused brief therapy, and other treatments that strengthen family systems and couples. Through my training under Drs. John and Julie Gottman, I have also adopted the Gottman method therapy for assisting couples.

I have been in private practice ever since, working with individuals, couples and families. I have completed second level Gottman Training, utilizing the Gottman method in my work with couples. I have begun working extensively with those struggling with eating disorders, also, actively expanding my knowledge within this treatment area. Finally, I have recently completed the requirements needed to supervise others entering the marriage and family therapy field.
