Personal Statement
I believe that each individual is a unique person with unique thoughts, feelings and ways of coping with the world around them. On occasion, people might need a little help getting through a problem they are faced with. Creating a safe place where clients feel comfortable to share is a top priority. It is my goal to guide my clients to identify the resources and strength they posses, which may have been overlooked or underutilized. Working collaboratively, we can develop goals and a plan of action to confront and deal with the problem. Watching my clients grow and overcome their obstacles is such a joy and I am so grateful to work in this profession. I am constantly learning about people and relationships and that is a true gift.
What therapy is:
1) Therapy is a great place to talk with a neutral party who is invested in guiding you through the process of finding the solution that works best for you.
2) Therapy is a place to explore coping patterns, relationship patterns and emotions.
3) Therapy is about identifying what you, the client, would like to see change.
As a family therapist, I work from a systems approach. I specialize in working with both expectant and new mothers who may be experiencing depression, anxiety and/or adjustment issues. I feel that it is a great honor and privilege to be able to walk beside other mothers as they journey through motherhood. I also have multiple years of experience working with couples, families and individuals of various ages and a multitude of presenting problems. In addition to working in private practice, I have experience working with physicians to provide collaborative care in a clinical environment.
