Personal Statement

Working with children, adults, and families, I specialize in addressing trauma, anxiety, and emotional or relational problems that may be impacting you or your child at home, school, or work. We will work together to find and highlight your strengths to better serve your needs, while also learning and applying new coping skills. Perhaps you don't feel traditional talk therapy is right for you or your child? I agree, it is not a good fit for everyone. This is why I also offer movement therapy - incorporating body-based techniques, games/play, and creative expression or problem-solving tools. Research shows us that a healthy body may correlate with a healthy mind, so shouldn't we address both? I also offer Neurofeedback, which is a holistic treatment that helps your brain learn how to function more efficiently to boost your mood or attention span, better handle stressful situations, and find an overall sense of balance.

Curious about how these options - psychotherapy, movement therapy, and Neurofeedback - may benefit you or your child? There are many cognitive, emotional, and physical layers to the experience of sexual trauma, and this can be confusing sometimes for survivors. During a trauma, the nervous system requires the brain and the body to automatically take over control in order to protect oneself quicker, often leaving the mind unable to make conscious decisions in the moment. It is not uncommon for memories to be incomplete, to have guilt or confusion, feel “on edge”, or not feel like yourself after a trauma.
